Halloween sure does come round fast! So I guess a little festive pattern is in order for the forthcoming festivities. (^-^)
Not my best work I'm afraid, some you win, some you lose he he but here is the pattern anyway for this cute little pumpkin fellow shown above.
You can use any yarn as long as its orange! and some brown or green for the stalk.
The pumpkin shown used a chunky yarn and a G/6 (4.00mm) hook.
Make 6 of the following leaf shapes in orange;
Ch13, 1sc in 2nd st from hook, 1sc in next st, 1hdc in next st, 1dc in next st, 1tr in next 4 sts, 1dc in next st, 1hdc in next st, 1sc in last 2 sts - (12)
Turning your work and crocheting into your foundation chain sts repeat the above sts again with: 1sc in 1st foundation st, 1sc in next st, 1hdc in next st, 1dc in next st, 1tr in next 4 sts, 1dc in next st, 1hdc in next st, 1sc in last 2 sts - (24 total sts from steps 1 and 2)
Crochet your orange leaf shapes together joining 12 sts to 12 sts each length with 1sc, making sure the sc ribs are on the outside.
This will leave you with 2 holes either end of your pumpkin shape. Crochet one end closed using orange yarn working 1sc neatly around edge (about 14 sts) then sc2tog around (7), sl st to close, fasten off.
With the other hole join your brown or green yarn and work 1sc neatly around edge again (about 14 sts) then 1sc in ea st around (14), sc2tog until end (7), sl st to close, fasten off.
You can add a face if you like or maybe some extra leaves in green, have fun with your pumpkin!
